I tu, t’has portat bé?

Once upon a time many, many years ago, there were three very wise Kings who knew how to read the stars. Each of them lived on a continent, one in Europe, one in Asia and one in Africa.

One day, Melchior, the European king who had a snow-white beard, suddenly staring at the stars, saw a shooting star standing in the middle of the sky and shining much brighter than the others. Melchior scared to death decided to go investigate because that star shone so brightly and he rode on his camel and headed for the horizon.

In Asia, there was Caspar, a king who had a very long chestnut beard, just as Melchior looking at the sky saw a star that glowed with a very special glow. Totally intrigued by such a spectacle, raucous and fast he took his camel and also began the journey following the luminous star.

Balthasar, the king of Africa, like the other two kings before such an event, did not think about it for a second and also ran out to his camel to continue on his way to the star.

Several days passed, when suddenly the three kings agreed on the same path. It was then, when sharing their experiences of the magical star, their extensive knowledge of astrology and immense wisdom came to the conclusion that that shining new star that had surprised and attracted them was the sign that something extraordinary was to happen: the birth of a new king, a king of kings.
For such an event it would be necessary to bring  gifts worthy of such a person, so they decided to bring the best presents that they knew: Melchior, gold, Caspar, incense; and Balthasar, myrrh.

After days and days of long travel, the three Kings arrived in Bethlehem, right where the star had stopped and there they saw their prediction being fulfilled. A baby, Jesus, was found next to his mother Mary and father Joseph. Melchior, Caspar and Balthasar knelt in front of the child leaving the presents at his feet.

So happy was the baby Jesus before the visit of the three Kings that he granted them eternal life and a much better gift…. being able to bring gifts to every child in the world once a year…well, only if they were good.

And you, have you been good? Well, get ready because the Three Wise Men are coming. Remember that it would be very, very nice to leave cookies and milk so that they have a lot of energy and can distribute thousands and thousands of gifts to all children all night long.

Happy Kings’ Eve!
